Les Spitz 1943-2021
It is with deep sadness that we have to announce the death on 15th October of one of our founding members, Les Spitz ARPS.
Les served several terms as chairman of the club and was an active committee member till the very end, always willing to share his deep knowledge and experience with fellow club members. He developed a keen interest in photography at the age of ten and maintained that interest his entire life, latterly taking a special pleasure in producing AV’s, a task at which he excelled. He also was a highly respected judge on the C.A.C.C. circuit.
Above all, he was a warm, kind caring man who will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, children and extended family at this difficult time.
Les and Doreen on vacation in Cape Town
Les enjoyed their holiday home in Bournemouth, vacations in Cape Town and Australia and especially, African wildlife. A selection of his images, many of which reflect these interests are shown below.
Les mentored many of our members and hosted a workshop group on preparing Audio Visuals. He did these very well and took pleasure in helping club members with their own presentations. One of our favourites is Feathers shown below but many others can be found on his YouTube Channel.
